wander on home

Hi.

I'm so glad that you are here!

Take a look around.

Do you do New Year's Resolutions?

Do you do New Year's Resolutions?

Do you do New Year's resolutions?

Although they often get a bad rap, (according to these Interesting statistic only 8% of people achieve their resolution) AND there are alternatives that might actually work better (Erin's tradition of making non-goals or the idea of having a one-word theme for the year) I personally love New Year's resolutions. I've made them most years since I was around 12. The part I like most is taking time to reflect on my year and on the changes I'd like to make. Aaaaaaaand I'm probably up there with the 92% most years on achievement. But reflection!

There's two reasons I feel like my resolutions aren't always successful. One is that I've made a reallllly long list of resolutions. Another is that my resolutions are vague (for example last year my resolution was to get on a better schedule....no more details included).

This year I somehow magically already know what I want to do. Sometimes I think having kids is so exhausting it makes me edit my thought process and become some sort of crazy genius. lol just kidding. Actually what it does is make your shortcomings glaringly visible. Are you ready to hear them now or what? Okay. Here are my 3 resolutions.

  1. Start going to bed and waking up early. 10:30-6:30 is my target. I neeeeeed at least eight hours of sleep. (This is going to be the hardest one for me!)
  2. Read three free articles from the Economist every week. This came about because a week or so ago I was telling my husband how I wish I knew more about important world events but don't really know how to find out and also don't want to watch the news because all the crime gives me anxiety. He suggested the Economist. Register and get articles emailed to you weekly. Something about you can read three for free with no subscription? I already signed up!
  3. No more late fees at the library. It's ridiculous that I've turned in every book in the past three months late. A bad habit to nip in the bud.

Do you do New Year's Resolutions or a variation? What are yours? Please share and happy 2017!
