I love taking my kids places that help them appreciate nature and going to a butterfly house was a natural pair with Eric Carle’s classic book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We saw caterpillar’s, chrysalises, butterflies that just ate their way out(!), and we even got to release a few butterflies into the exhibit. Our fave part. I gravitate towards play ideas that are simple, sweet, foster independence, and most importantly require almost zero prep on my end. I love the book Sam and Dave Dig a Hole by Mac Barnett because my kids always want to go outside and dig after. Extra mom points when I have chocolate milk and animal cookies waiting for them when they come in.
